those dipsticks had a xb12s in their "long term test fleet" they noted that after 2600 miles the final drive belt didnt need any adjustment, and had been maintenance free so far.duh.

Just wondering if any magazine has a review on the XB12, preferably the R?

I've looked into my pile of magazines from last year and didn't see any.

Look up Roadracing World. They had a review I think in April, 04 on the R. Overall a pretty good write up but they ended up comparing the Buell to typical inline four 600 and on the track they knocked it a bit for being down on power and not turning quick enough. It is a roadracing magazine though so I can't blame them for picking up the faults of the R as a race bike.

After reading it I couldn't help but come away with the feeling that the riders were less than enthusiastic about giving an honest positive evaluation about the bike - Kinda like the line- "Gee, you don't sweat much for such a big girl!" But maybe you gotta start somewhere.

Hkwan, there was a front-page article on the 12s in Cycle Canada last spring (March?), written by a journalist who'd been racing on a 9R for a season already. Overall good impression, but he found a real difference in the handling between the R and S models, which surprised him since they have the same geometries (he figured the difference in riding position and handlebars probably explains it).

One comment I can remember is something about the front wheel feeling like it's welded to the pavement...

I dunno- I built it last year- Its a 468 with a nice solid-lifter cam that hauls my behind around in my '67 stepside chevy until I can afford to become one of the Buell, the Proud....

(sorry for hijacking the thread...)

Yeah, I did play for the Braves. Send me $5000 so I can really modify my 12R and I'll send you an autograph.
