My 05 XB still has the original sidestand that is prone to issues. I bought a used kickstand with the new style pin off eBay (I believe it’s from an 07). It is the one below in the diagram. I did notice that the one being sold from Harley now is slightly different and there is a little lever welded to the top. Does anyone know what the difference is and what that lever is? They both have the pin and clip. https://st-paul-harley-davidson-buell.myshopify.com/products/l1167-02a8-genuine-buell-sidestand-kickstand-leg-service-kit-most-2004-2010-xb-l19c

My guess is the lever may activate a safety switch that prevents the engine from running if the kick stand is down and the transmission is in gear. My 2016 MV Agusta has such a system. |

I know the 03's has a kickstand switch, but I thought it was eliminated after that. |

The Kickstand switch was only eliminated in the US models, International models still required them by law. But to keep multiple part numbers, inventory and manufacturing costs down they just left the tab on all the kickstands. Won't hurt anything or get in the way. |
