Push on the red dot, the orange dot should cantilever UP (away from the fuel pipe) to release the fitting. Push forward if you want to. |

You can try to push on the red dot area (there is another red dot on opposite side, so push them both at the same time) but it will likely do nothing. Look carefully on my drawing, if you will just push the tab down it will not cantilever the lock because of the opposite side of the clip sits inside the wedged pocket and there is no way it can be lifted over the nozzle lip without sliding the whole clip back to allow it to be cantilevered.
So you actually need to push and slide the red dot toward blue dot to release the lock, not just push. But to be able to move the red dot toward the blue dot you need to move the whole fitting opposite direction first away from the nozzle lip. Once the red dot is moved toward the blue dot hold it this way and slide whole fitting out of the nozzle. Again, there are two tabs (two red dots on both sides of the fitting) , you have to grasp and move both of them at the same time symmetrically.

I do not think so, this fitting is designed for manual operation.

It's the same as the mostly universal A/C or fuel fittings in a late model car. There are specialized removal tools that slip over the hard line and insert into the end of that fitting to raise the locks away from the metal barb.
BUT, not for you Theres nothing that will fit in that short space in front of the fitting.
It's hashed now, just use a sharp utility blade to hack it off. Make sure not to leave any burrs on the metal line. |

Whew, got it off. Tried to use the tabs, but yes, Shoggin, they were gone. So I cut the fuel line at the fastener so I could rotate it completely, and then gently snipped the ends at the tabs. Slid right off then.
On another good note, I got a new fuel line from St. Paul HD/ Buell for $36 plus $7 3-day USPS shipping. Their E commerce guy Cody Ray Thompson got me hooked right up through an email followed by a phone call. And he said there are 120 more in the warehouse...if anyone out there ever needs one.

Yes it is, slide the fitting on the nozzle all way in then pull it slightly back to make sure it is locked. Before sliding it on the nozzle put lite coat of engine oil on the metal nozzle so the o-ring inside the plastic fitting will slide on the nozzle without issues.
I hope you covered the fuel rail nozzle and the fuel pump outlet holes with something to prevent dirt or insects going in while you are waiting the new fuel line. The last thing you want to find after repair the injectors are clogged.

Got the new line yesterday. Easy hook up today. Started right up. Thanks for the help guys. Next step- Hook up the Revision Moto exhaust. |

Another bitch about the engineer who designed that fitting so the tab is under it instead of having those tabs on the sides so you can actually touch them. I use hose grip pliers to reach around to get those tabs. And Buells are the only bike I have this trouble with---- |

Always been one of my bitchs for the engineer that let that go--should have had a fitting with the tabs on either side so you could actually grasp both at the same time----I use pliers from Harbor Freight --long reach hose grip---I saw so many of those broken coming from the dealers--- |
