Is there a good and safe cleaner for translucent air box covers and windshields? |

I use mild soap and then use a chamois to dry it. Other than that, I use Meguiar's Instant Detailer. |

I’ll try the Meguire’s. Anyone else have any tips? |

I think 3M makes a specific plastic cleaner and a polish. Like a two- step process with two products. I have used these products to reduce small scratches and hazing in polycarbonate panels. As directed, works great. Also Griot's Garage products are very good. Meguiars also. |

I use Novus. I used it in my old CR and my Uly. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002UCYRZU/ref=cm_sw_r_c p_apa_i_UlqwFbVKKD8R2 |

I've used Novus 2 on my Ulysses for 10 years and it seems to work great. I have a box of new, leftover from the factory, air box covers I've always thought about breaking out . . .but the original still looks fine. |

Agree with Court - Novus 2 is the best option. - Sean |

I actually have some Novus that I use for my helmet’s windscreen. I wasn’t sure if it was safe for the air box cover. I’ll just use that! Court you have some air box covers still new in box!? |

Umm, isn’t Novus 2 the fine scratch remover? Could leave a little haze unless followed with Novus 1 cleaner/polisher. |

Sorry to bring back the thread, but those of you have used the Novus 2 then Novus 1 afterwords; was this on translucent plastics? I have some small scratches/hazing that I would like to clean up, but I don't want to make it worse in the process! |

It works on windscreens, which you typically like to see through, so it will be fine for translucent bodywork. |

I'm, going to find out . . . I have used Novus 2 in the past with wonderful results. I'm going to go at the Ulysses again. I have brand new spares of both the regular and translucent airbag covered so I have no reservations about going at it pretty aggressively. |

That would be great! I only have the one and it doesn't look like they can be had anymore. Mine is in good (7/10) condition and I am just trying to get it to 9/10. I get out of the Buell game for 9 years and when I come back nothing is available anymore.. |

Update: I decided to take the cover off today and try the Novus on the underside of the X on my Airbox cover in case it didn’t work well. It actually did a great job! I did about a 4 inch square section of a time with the Novus 2, removed dried polish with a separate clean rag and polished with Novus 1. It took a little over an hour but it definitely took it from the 7/10 to about a 9/10. |

Good....honestly, that's what I expected. I've used it on the standard bodywork with great results. For a while it was pretty difficult to find bodywork, let alone good, used bodywork. Glad it worked. - Sean |

I think it still is pretty tough to find any body work other than black or racing red. The hero blue cover I cleaned is the original one that came on my 9sx. |

I had a 1125CR and I now have a Ulysses, so NO I never had a translucent airbox cover. It has worked on my face shields. |
