I have a slight leak at the seal around the shift shaft. I am looking for the seal pn#37101-84b with not much luck. Also, can it be replaced with out removing the primary cover. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, JC |

Have an 08 manual but if the primary cover hasn’t changed much it looks possible. The breakdown shows the seal on the outside so you just need to get the old one out and deburr the shaft so you don’t cut the new seal. Then you can tell us how it went. |

You can, because it's not in the cover very hard. Pick it out with a angled pick. You will destroy it, but who cares. When re-installing, use a deep socket or pipe that matches the OD of the seal to persist in BY HAND or you'll destroy it, check the shift shaft for burrs, grease the inside of the new seal, and use some plastic wrap over the splines when putting the new seal on. IMO, I'd pull the primary, it's a good time to check the chain, foot, clutch, and swap fluid. |

I stopped at my local HD shop today and asked about the seal part #hd 37101-84b which is the buell parts# in my parts book. He said it was changed to hd# 11000101. Looked about right so I purchased it for $3.99 and will give it a try. Watched some u-tube videos on taking it out on a sportster without removing the primary cover. Will keep you guys posted. Thanks for the help! |
