I am currently looking to buy another XB after selling mine nearly a decade ago. My old 03 XB9 had the Buell Race kit (Muffler, ECM and filter) and I was happy with the performance. I would like the equivalent on whatever I get next. Things a decade ago were pretty easy to buy for the XB's, but it looks like it's much tougher now. Are the only options: Drummer ($650) or Jardine ($420) or a used Race Can? I have heard that the Jardine is hard to get it to tune to accelerate as well as the Buell race can. |

Had a Buell Race and a D&D, then got one from Dean Adams. Head and shoulders above ANY of the others. Sound, power, everything. I'd love to get one of the few Micron systems out there, but they're officially unobtainium. Still not sure they are better than a jet hot coated XB12 header and one of Dean's mufflers. |

Mornin! There are a couple more options, Dean Adams and APH Engineering, IDS makes a tune for the Dean pipe that works for the APH... http://deanadamsdesigns.com/cart.php?target=catego ry&category_id=5 Alan does not list them on his page but will make one to order. Tim at IDS who supplied the ECM to Buell and EBR can reprogram whatever tune you have on the ECM for $100, send it in, he sends it back rather than $300 for an outright buy. http://www.aph-performance-engineering.com/gallery .html I run a Micron on my XB12r ( no longer available ) a Dean pipe on my 1190Sx and an APH on my 1125Cr.... they are wonderfully loud! lolol Pete |

I hadn't heard of Dean Adams. It looks like he uses a magnaflow muffler. It doesn't appear that he sells the ECM for the XB9 though. |

Dean makes all the parts, and they can be repacked although I have not heard of anyone having to do so, he can supply the tune for a 9 |

Early on, he built mufflers using a Magnaflow when he was I think in business with someone else as Keda. His own mufflers are more like the Buell Race with dual outlet. send me an email at my username at gmail dot com and I'll send you some pics of mine. If I get some time, I'll try to upload them here. Really, couldn't be happier, and Dean is a great guy. Below is a pic I found of the exhaust I bought that someone else posted. Again, mine is Jet Hot (ceramic coated) in silver along with the XB12 header.

Deans been going through some health issues for the last year or so...he might have something on the shelf for you, but I wouldn't count on him firing up the welder anytime soon.... |

Mike, he is back to some limited welding again, can't keep a good man down. I had purchased a pipe for my Cr from him right before he was diagnosed and he refunded my funds. I bought an APH for the Cr with a tune by Jens and Julia at NCCR. A few weeks later he had the itch but I had already bought but do have his pipe on my Sx, he would make a pipe I beleive. |

Seems Dean is getting his arse kicked by treatments and is out of the shop for a bit,, Rev... re-branded Buelltooth, not a favorite dude from folks who like their bike to run well... |

I like the exhaust from Dean. I hope he is back on his feet before too long! Thanks everyone for the help. What is the consensus on the Jardine exhaust? |

Jardine.....eh... Not a fan. OK in a pinch, cheap, and built that way. Dean's is a tank comparatively, IMHO. |

Ok thanks for the review. I will probably go with an exhaust from him or D&D. No I just have to find an XB to put it on! Cheers guys |

Alan at APH is far and above my favorite of all the new options. Over 30 years experience as a professional exhaust welder shows in his systems. Fit and finish is A-infinity-plus plus lol |

Chemo + radiation kinda sucks, I haven't built anything for weeks because of it. Still have more to go before I try it again, but this was from early July right before the "treatment" started. Not sure if the link to the pic will stay active, it's on fb and they change stuff on me all the time.

Have you checked the American Sport Bike sponsored exhaust shootout? it is on here somewhere but a little dated now. I recently purchased a Torque Hammer muffler from Twin Motorcycles in the Netherlands. Have not had a chance to try it yet but the reviews were good, It is a beautifully made piece in stainless. They will supply a map too but not cheap. I chose it over the DRummer because they claim it is not as loud. Price was comparabel to a Drummer SS. |

I appreciate it guys. The bike I ended up finding and am buying this week has the Drummer SS exhaust and Race ECM. It seems pretty nice! |
