I have a 2009 XB12SS (with about 1K miles on it) and really need more leg room, looking at pictures of Ulysses it looks as though the peg setup on it gives you at least 2-3 inches more room, would is be possible to use the foot peg brackets, shifter and brake pedals from a Ulysses on my SS? Anyone parting out a Ulysses? I would really love the Ulysses... Anyone in New England (NH) have a low mileage one they want to trade? |

A Uly is physically much taller than your Ss is. Bolting on the peg brackets, and relocating the shifter that much lower on your Ss could make cornering an "exciting" experience If you don't have them on already, there are options for 1" and 2" drop pegs that fit right on your Ss. Good luck! |

A taller seat make a big difference for me. The STT seat is almost flat on top and give (I'd estimate) and additional 2". I'm 6'3" 36" inseam. The tall seat and 2" drop pegs make my STT a mile-eating comfort machine |

Agree with Shoggin, simple solution is usually the best. But FWIW i recently installed suspension from a 2010 SB12Ss on my Uly, and have enough ground clearance for pretty spirited cornering on the street. Touching my toes down occasionally but so far touched a peg only once. About 1/8" chicken strip on the rear so leaning pretty good. if you go the uly route you can get saddlebag capability but probably need the whole Uly rear end then. |

Hmmm. I didn't know there were 2" drop pegs, are the pegs Buell? I have only seem the 1" drop, which I put on my 12R. I have been considering the STT seat as well, I'm 6'4" and also a 36 inseam the bike already has 1" drop pegs on it Thanks! |

The XT and 09/10 SS have similar levels of ground clearance, scraping pegs won't be a huge factor with the Uly peg mounts. The older SSes have the same suspension height as a regular lightning or Firebolt, and I can confirm you can drag pegs on one of those just looking at it funny. The Uly peg mounts do bolt right on, you shouldn't even need a longer brake line. You will need to get the Uly shifter linkage and shifter mount which lowers the shifter a bit. I do agree your easiest action would be a taller seat and lower pegs, Knight Designs makes 2" drop pegs. http://www.knightdesignllc.com/Products/Motorcycle /Buell/XB12S-XB12Ss/Buell-XB12S-Foot-Peg-Menu.html (They measure their drop vs the stock drop, so their 1" additional drop is really 2" total) |
