After over 14 years and tons of adventure, I said good bye to the Buell XB9SX and picked up a 2020 Triumph Bonneville T120 Ace Cafe edition. |

Well, at least you did one right thing - sold the Buell. You need to buy Honda Neo Cafe Racer, not Triumph. (Message edited by TPEHAK on January 08, 2020) |

European motorcycles are less reliable than Buell. That Honda is not just more reliable but also looks better than that Triumph. (Message edited by TPEHAK on January 09, 2020) |

I see mostly Triumphs and Ducaties here on the streets rather than Hondas. I also newer saw Honda Neo Cafe Racer on the streets. So Neo Cafe Racer is pretty rare motorcycle also. |

The Buell was definitely super reliable, never had any mechanical issues with the bike...loved every second of owning it. I was crushed when HD shut them down. I always loved having a bike that was different than every other bike I saw on the street. Honda’s are a dime a dozen. The Bonnie has a classic look and I don’t see them every day. I also considered the Moto Guzzi V7 and Royal Enfield. |

Buell buyers are happy twice. First time when they buy it and second time when they sell it ) |

Yes! Totally! They're such garbage I can't imagine anyone as stupid as me owning a Buell or spending a ton of money to customize it, what a waste of time and money for such a POS... Right TP-Hack?

Well, it is not total POS, but trust me average owner will be happy to get rid of such headache. Regarding the Triumph I have to say that across all European motorcycles Triumph is the worst in terms of crafting quality. If OP will dig under the hood of his new motorcycle he will see really bad quality of welding work on the Triumph frame. Ugly welding beads covered with powder look really unpleasant. Going from Buell to Triumph is actually downgrade. (Message edited by TPEHAK on February 22, 2020) |

We are TPEHACK doesn't speak for any of us. Go over on BuellXB.com and ask about TPEHAK You will get an earful. I think TPE has been banned from there under 2-5 different accounts. Good luck with the Triumph, I know a guy who has the non cafe edition of the Bonneville and it's been a reliable bike. He enjoys the heck out of it. Personally I think the XB9SX is the best Buell ever made. Wish I never sold mine, but love my current one. |

We are not really Buell enthusiasts, we are just Buell owners. I think 2010 Buell XB12Scg is the best motorcycle across all Buell and EBR motorcycles. It is actually the best American motorcycle ever made. I wish they made Buell XB13Scg with 1275cc stock engine, I would choose XB13Scg over XB12 or XB9. If everything they told in the internet about European motorcycles and Triumph particularly is true I would think twice before replacing Buell by this motorcycle because of everything they told about Buell turned out to be true. If you live in the UK maybe it makes sense to own Triumph since they can fix their shit faster on the motherland. (Message edited by TPEHAK on February 22, 2020) |

I have been "pushin' scooters" around for nearly 54 years! I have owned (or ridden) about every major brand in existence (from a 1947 Indian Chief-my first "bike," to a Simplex). My BSAs and Triumphs were some of my favorites. My BMWs were excellent but stoic. Ducatis were a thrill, but mechanically finicky. Buells have a living, breathing, personality-much like an HRD Vincent. They will always be a classic (especially those that remain un-butchered). They are flawed for certain, but very few man-made creations will elicit such a dedicated following (especially in such a relatively short live span). I currently have two-a 2003 XB9s and a 2004 XB12S. I would sell my Harleys and my 1978 Ducati 900 GTS before I would sell the Buells. If you want a motorcycle to thrash about until it is inextricably expired, then buy something more suitable to your "needs." Me, well I am going to thoroughly enjoy my "future classics" in the hopes that they will out live me for generations to come. Signed: "That old guy with the classic bikes that you wanted as a kid." |

Well said ^^^ Motorcycles should be an extension of ourselves. Some of us are finicky, high maintenance, and even ugly (raises hand for all three, lol) But theres still someone that loves us There are no 'bad' motorcycles. (Message edited by shoggin on February 23, 2020) |

Many ride but few Triumph. I've own a 69 T120R since 1970 & loved all its quirks. 03 XB9R with Ohlins (Radialactive) is my current favorite. The new Triumphs are bulletproof & especially nice with Ohlins. (Message edited by mlink on May 05, 2020) |

You can't say so because of the new Triumph motorcycles had not enough time to prove it and old Triumph motorcycles proved opposite. |

Hahaha! I once attended a large Triumph demo ride and rode the Thunderbird. The bike broke down before it even started rolling! The CHEESY plastic shift linkage fell off! On the plus side, power from the 1600cc parallel twin was very pleasing. Try to cut Tpehak some slack. He's a good guy. Don't be snowflakes. |

Right now you can get Honda's 2014 V4 Interceptor for cheap (they're stopping production and trying to move old stock). I picked one up last November after my XB12 started making a concerning noise within the motor. Keeping the Buell until I fix it though, which might be a while. |

Yeah, new old-stock 2014s. The 2014s were mostly a cosmetic update, and slight change to the V-tec, over the previous gen. Shortly after they were released Kawasaki released the Ninja 1000. On paper and track, they outperform Interceptors in every way for about the same price. Plus Honda never advertised the VFRs all that much. When I saw the discounted prices I went for a test ride and loved it. Very smooth and refined at low rpm. Then at about 6700rpm the V-tec kicks in and the V4 becomes a whole different beast. I still miss riding the XB, it has an undeniable character and can tackle corners much harder but I'm not worried about the Honda dying on me. |

I see my XB9SX as a classic bike. Like, if I owned a 70's Norton Commando or a Kawasaki H1/H2. It's got it's own personality and it cannot be duplicated. It's special. I've owned vintage Japanese bikes (Kawasaki's - hence my handle) and arguably, my old bikes were as reliable as my Buell - which is sitting in my garage right now. Not running... In any case, I still love it and I ride it. It's something I have to work on and fix - which I don't mind. Calling Buell "unreliable" is a broad, and inaccurate remark. Not only that, it's completely subjective. I hope to keep mine for about 20 years or so - it won't get ridden much by that time but it'll be mine. I'll be one of those guys that actually held on to the dream. All this assumes that nothing happens to the bike between now and then |
