I put a new HD battery in my 2007 xb12s a couple years ago and ride it or use the battery tender. When I start from cold, it clicks a few times then starts. Is something going bad that I need to take care of? |

Despite the Battery Tender...what is the battery voltage when cold ? The battery being older, and on a trickle charge, it still may not have enough power. Also, like mentioned, check "ALL" grounds to and from the battery and starter, must be clean and tight. Mike |

Another vote for all the grounds in the starter circuit but failing that another outside chance is a resistive neutral switch. That particular gremlin led me a merry chase on my old '06 12X. You can easily isolate that neutral switch affecting the starter by pulling the clutch in (assuming you have that interlock operational). Ray |

We are in a cold snap, so no testing til Monday; a loose battery connection would be embarrassing, so don't expect a confession. I habitually pull in the clutch to start. |

Ha... Happened to me yesterday, a nice 35 degree morning and wanting to ride the 12SS... jumped the bike with a battery charger, road for a while and the CEL would come on from time to time. got home and tightened both battery cables as they were loose... should have checked the easiest thing 1st.. |
