Just a heads up: my bike starting giving me problems starting. I checked the battery and the connections were loose. They're supposed to be 72-96 inch pounds torque, they were even less than 72,just snug. They weren't completely loose, just not tight enough. I commute on it most days so I don't think the battery should be dying yet but it is. I don't know if the looser screws on the battery are the cause but I"m looking for new battery now. So yall check the connections on your batteries occasionally...
Question: the yuasa site calls for a YTX14-BS battery, found one that's a YTX14, says it's the replacement, anybody know the difference???

I replaced my XB9R battery in October. I was having starting issues on colder mornings, sometimes the the starter relay would chatter and the instrument cluster would reset before the starter could spin fast enough to turn the motor over. The build date on my bike is November 02 so I almost got 2 years out of the battery and I ride most everyday so I know it didn't die from lack of charging. I tried all the usual tricks like making sure the terminals were clean and tight but it didn't make any difference. I think that the heat from the motor with the fan and the overall vibration of the bike adds to the demise of the battery. To answer your question "B" stands for the type of terminal "S" stands for sealed, non-spillable.

Thanks Rsh... Yea, mine was built in Aug '03 and I bought it in Sept '03 and it doesn't sit much either. I was suprised the battery died this early...

Glitch

Mine died at just under a year at about 20thousand miles. But what killed it was my stator frying out. I ride all the time also, 28thousand plus now. If you ever smell your gear oil after a ride, unmistakeable smell, your stator is/has/will go out.
