Finally have room in the garage for additional wheels and searching the local Craigslist this caught my eye: https://milwaukee.craigslist.org/mcy/d/milwaukee-2 008-buell-xb12r-firebolt/6846889341.html KBB and NADA seem to hover closer to $4k not the $5 listed but I have to question given the low miles on the bike, does that factor into higher value these days? Seems like Buells are undervalued in general since I last looked a few years ago. With that being said, 2008 bike with 2k miles could be a red flag too I assume? |

For me personally, condition is a better indicator than miles. There are bikes out there with 100k on them that run just as good as they did new, because they were taken care of, and there are bikes that were abused and neglected yet have a fraction of the mileage, and as result won't be as good of a bike. 2k miles on a 10 year old bike means it sat, a lot. In my personal experience, low mileage bikes are headaches, they weren't ridden enough to work out any teething issues, in addition to a decade of having stale fluids and rotting rubber. I'm pretty sure those are the original tires on the one in that link. That bike does look like it is in good condition, so I wouldn't be too worried about it as it probably was taken care of, but the price is too high in my opinion. |

2,000 miles shouldn't be a big deal at all, sales wise. I've got a back yard full of FZR 1000's, R1's, and a TLR 1000 (5 total) all with between 96,000 and 105,000 miles on them. NO ONE wants them..! For any price. Mike |

Thanks for echoing my concerns Froggy. My 2000 Blast (3,500 miles) had to sit for 2 years while I had things to do for Uncle Sam (part time AF mechanic) and sure enough same dried out rubber & gaskets issues you mention. With that being said, short of having to completely overhaul the engine, I don't mind not being able to pick up a Buell that is road-ready..it's always nice to put in sweat equity into something you appreciate.. although admittedly Fall would be a better time to get into such a project. Still not convinced to go with a Firebolt or Lighting either, riding is a mixture of commuting 30 miles one way into Milwaukee and getting out on the twisties of Western WI on occasion. I do know that an 1125 seems to be overkill for commuting and an 1190 would probably get me killed and/or face-time with WI State Patrol. |

That bike won't last, only because there aren't that many clean examples out there for sale anymore. As Froggy stated, you'll have to go through it, and in speaking with the owner, you'll be able to discern his rationale for pricing. I'd take $4k cash and see where the conversation goes. IMHO, that's the number where both parties could be happy. Sean |

I would feel more comfortable buying a bike that was used regularly and maintained properly. I would be more wary of a 10 year old bike with 850 miles on it. 2000 miles isn't enough miles even to break it in properly really. Most of what went wrong with my two Buells have happened in the first 10,000 miles when they were under warranty. I would suggest finding an example that has had a couple of oil and tire changes under its belt. It will be cheaper as well as more sorted out. |

I bought my 2009 XB12SS last summer with 412 miles on it for $3,100... other than changing all the fluids, I put on new tires... not a fan of 9-10 yr old tires.. Having said that, I also have a 08 XB12 Firebolt with about 18K miles, I would ask around $4500 if I were to sell it this year |

I have been looking for a clean low mileage example too, and there aren't many left. I tried to email the seller on the bike in you are looking at in WI but haven't heard back. Have you? |

It's a mixed bag. . . . I'm trying to sell a Ford F-350 Super Duty that was about $70,000 new 5 years ago and has something like 11,000 miles on it. Thought we'd pull a trailer . . . did twice. Folks are as leary of low miles and detailed maintenance records as they are of high miles. Anything that has just been parked and not run or maintained is subject to some concerns . . but, if I were you, I'd ask about maintenance. |

Thank's for the feedback everyone. Based on pulling my Blast out from long term storage and the gremlins I am dealing with, I will pass on a bike like the one linked above. Danxb9r no I didn't end up emailing the seller but they are down the road from my work so I could reach out to them on your behalf if you wanted. |
