While at the NHRA, Winter Nationals today (Friday, SoCal) I was looking at the Top Fuel Bikes. The NHRA runs them at select races though out the year. One bike had a Buell front end on it...wheel, rotor, caliper, forks. When the bike came to the starting line, the announcer called it a...Buell..! Don't know how many of you have seen a Top Fuel bike, there ain't much, IF ANYTHING that is OEM on these bikes. 1000lbs, 1000+hp, running Nitro Methane for fuel, capable of running 230+MPH, requiring a parachute to help stop the bike. Anyway, thought I'd throw this out for the fun of it. I say fun...because some will boo-hoo it, some will read this with some interest... Mike |

I thought the Pro Stock class was the only motorcycle class in NHRA? Edit: I see you say they only run the Top Fuel Bikes at select races. My next question: Do the bikes run 1000 ft or the full 1/4 mile? |

Yes, the Top Fuel Bikes run the full 1320ft. They are fuel injected only, no supercharging of any type, other than direct air stream being forced into the injectors. Though there is different methods that different teams use. Top Fuel car and Funny Car are the only two classes that run the 1000ft. Pro Stock Bike also run at selected events. Mike |
