I found one for sale here in northern Michigan asking $3k, I'm gonna go look at it tomorrow. It's the Sunburst Orange, all the plastics have been Plastic Dip coated, which should be easy enough to remove. The main questions, what to look for or what is problematic engine, electric, chassis, etc.. I own and have owned Buell 1125R, CR and EBR 1190SX. I do my own maintenance work on them which is a prerequisite I believe, anyhow, I'm capable to do the work on them. Just want to know what things need to be addressed at the mileage and or upcoming issues? Thanks in advance! |

06 is a pretty solid year, there isn't anything "expensive" I can think of. At 35k miles it has seen enough use to shake loose anything that would normally be an issue, such as the voltage regular "77" connector or bad grounds. Find out if the belt and wheel bearings have been replaced, and if not I'd recommend closely inspecting to see if they need that. Do you have a link or any pictures? |

Here is a great post: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/834493.html?1543927487 Other than that there are lots of posts here about various issues that come up and lots of folks more knowledgeable than me will chime in. There are posts about drive belts and rear wheel bearings (maybe more on Uly's than the Ss), voltage regulators, throttle shafts. My 2006 Uly has not given me any problems in almost 7 years of ownership, although I did find normal things last year (wheel bearings, drive belt) that needed to be replaced and the front brake caliper was bunged up from lack of maintenance. The only proactive thing i plan to do is the ground wire as per the link above, regular maintenance and checking as on any old bike, and deal with any other problems as they come up. |

I've had two problems with my 05 12s in about 37000 miles. Problem 1. ECM died. Started running erratically. Run fine, miss plug firing for 3 or 4 seconds, pick up and run fine. Got worse as time (about 3 months), went on. Per guys on the Bad Web telling me of ECM problems, I happened to have a second ECM. Installed it, no more problems. I just had to put my tuneup into the new ECM. Problem solved. Problem 2. Fuel pump wires shorted. Apparently another common problem. Again, with the help of the guys on the Bad Web..! Removed the pump, sure enough, big as life. "VERY" poor design. Many sharp edges where wires pass a major bracket, add vibration...equals a short. Started with the low fuel light on all the time. Finally did a major short and no more power to the whole electrical system, Blew the "ign" fuse as I recall. Pulled the pump fixed the bare wire, been fine since. Good luck. Mike |

I believe Tootal is the one who has the stouter throttle body shafts - do that instantly. Wheel bearings are probably about due for a change at that mileage. Neoprene fork gaiters are a good idea, too. |

Yes, Tootal is the guy, still selling them. $75 plus shipping IIRC |
