I have an 03 XB with an 07 motor. When it runs on my current EEPROM it back fires some but the idle seems good. In 1st gear underload it will stall around 3k rpm and the check engine light will come on. When i load up the race ECM EEPROM it pops even more and also stalls at 3k RPM. I've checked the fuel pump pressure and I'm getting 50psi. Did numerous TPS resets. I just recently changed the TB gaskets but i dont know what else to do. I'm trying to get it to run right so that i can data log with the Tunabuell system. |

As long as the spark plugs are good, the plug wires are good, the throttle body seals aren't still leaking, the TPS module is in good condition... Did you mix and match any of the engine, fuel system parts ? Sounds like an ECM mapping not compatible to what the engine wants. Both fuel and ignition timing. What "are" your ECM's for...the 2003 bike or the 2007 engine ? What muffler are you using ? Did the engine "ever" run properly after the engine/chassis swap ? None of use has a crystal ball to know these things, they all make a big difference to the ECM. You need to offer up "all" of these details..! Mike |

I fixed the stalling after 3k. It was my side stand switch. Soldered it and its good, but it still pops. With the race ECM program it runs and then stalls. The chassis and fuel system and Race ECM is from the 03. The Muffler is a Jardine RT1. Just the motor, injectors (new) are 07 along with other bits to make it compatible. This swap is pretty new and it ran ok on my old motor. I haven't been able to get it to run right with the 07. With my old EEPROM it runs better than the stock RACE base map I need to use to datalog. This is it with the 03 race ecm programming. It back fires and stalls. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdDpGbfh7zQ |

I changed the plugs to the DCPR9EIX, added fresh fuel, checked the engine timing and now it's running better. Still pops but hopefully the tune will fix that. |

What specification is the ecm you are using, standard or race? We talking xb12 or 9 engine swap? From memory a race eprom will not work in a "standard ecm", visa versa. Also have you done a TPS reset? |

Race on an xb9. It was originally a race ECM to begin with but whatever was on it was not the standard race tune so I'm starting over. I was told you can flash a race ecm on a standard ecm no problem and that the only difference is the engraving and the EEPROM that's loaded. I've done a TPS but it's ok now. I just ran a log. |

I tried burning a race eprom to an '06 xb12 standard ecm, it ran much the way you describe in the first post. Later I was informed that eproms would not work but the race ignition and fueling maps could be installed in a standard map. I did that too, short story. Went back to stock eprom/map... |

Teeps, I don't think its as simple as cutting and pasting from what I'm learning which is why i'm letting an expert handle the tune. I'm making progress with Tunabuell and I need to do some more logs and we'll see how the results pan out. It might be something you should consider in the future. |

Actually it is that easy. But merely swapping fuel and ignition maps does not make a street legal ecm a race ecm. |

I disagree. After 2 logs my bike is already running better. The race ecm is just a starting point at least for my setup. (Message edited by ishampadron on November 28, 2018) |
