New to me 08 with 29k. Bike ran fine for a few hundred miles then started to run terrible. Now it won’t even start. Checked all fuses and relays. Put in a new battery and it still will not start. Can hear the fuel pump prime. No CEL or engine codes. Starting to pull my hair out

start with basics: fuel, spark, air. Some quick-n-dirty checks: fuel: pull the plugs. are they wet with fuel? spark: with plug connected to wire, ground the electrode (just rest is against the head). Can you see spark when turning over the engine? check both plugs. Air: pull the air box and make sure there is no obstruction. results of these checks will determine next steps. |

My 2008 started to run crappy like the timing was going out. after a long debug process, I determined that the ECU itself was bad. I cut my way into the black box and reflowed the connector solder but it still didn't run right. A new "Race" ECU from IDS fixed it and made it run better than it ever did before. It's not cold-blooded at startup like it was either. I bring this up since it's very damn easy to plug in a second ECU just to see if it fixes you. Is there someone near you with a 2008-2009 XB12? |

Probably need some more info; Does it crank but not start? Is the ECM damaged or cracked? Anything clogging the airbox? |

My Uly wouldn't start not too long ago so I brought it in to the shop. They found it was a bad headlight. I was shocked. I don't know if your case is the same since my bike didn't run poorly before it just wouldn't start again. |
