I just got a 2007 XB12S and it has just shy of 6k on it. One of my rocker box gaskets on the rear cylinder has failed and I would like to replace them. I spent a few hours on here trying to find two things, what brand to get and how to replace them. No such luck for me. I'm hoping someone here can help me out by either telling which post and year has that info or will just have the answer. I know I need to rotate the engine in order to rear cylinder, I'm hoping some post has photo steps, if not there is always the manuals available. A internet search left me wanting because it looks like I may need to but the Cometic Top End gasket set and I don't need all that. Has anyone put a Sportster rocker gasket on? |

Definitely have to rotate the motor; 07-up uses a different rockerbox gasket than 03-06. You can also use 07-up Sportster rockerbox gaskets (they are the same gaskets) but you don't need the ones related to the internal headbolt breathers on the Sportsters, since the XB uses PCV valves. |

I see you're in Denver. I'm actually in Fountain, just south of CO Springs. |

You owe it to yourself to get a Shop Manual. Have visited this? http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/3842.html?1534010419 Lots of good info there. Here are some rotation links I've saved: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/406 2/513209.html?1257938663 http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/555917.html?1271477720 http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/406 2/705005.html?1360071285 |

Phelan How do I tell the difference between Sportster gasket that is related to the internal headbolt breather? |

So I started taking the bike apart, crankcase breather has oil around it. Do I replace that and the grommet or will a good cleaning and a new grommet suffice? |
