Anon,

It couldn't be any worse than spending a little over a year in a Mexican jail or doing a tour in South East Asia. Plus the pay would be a lot better.

Cheers,

I’ve been gone for a week. Did you miss me? Didn’t think so.

Lots of interesting reading here.

Court quotes Steve Jobs as saying "Real geniuses ship". Right on! That would be our main man EB.
---------------------------
crush63 said “The engine is actually lighter and way shorter then a 1200 sportster engine.”

Wow! Could that really be true? It would be so cool to have a VROD engine in a FireBolt. Finding a place for the radiator really couldn’t be all that hard.
----------------------------------
Turnagain gave us a link to a Canadian Rider's Industry Report on the Firebolt and it said the Firebolt has “Telepathic chassis geometry” and “With 52-percent of the bike's mass resting on the front wheel, the Firebolt doesn't just carve corners, it owns them.”

Maybe all the lightweight sports bikes are that much fun and I just don’t know what I’m missing but I’m really looking forward to riding a Firebolt and just don’t care what the Wannabe racer bikes that sound like my mothers old Singer sewing machine ride like.
-------------------------------------
Jim: About those 740cc Blasts? Is there any way in the universe that we could see a 1500cc Firebolt?
--------------------------------------
Peter T: Sounds like John Britten was someone I’d like to know more about. Is there a biography in print that I can get hold of?

Ray,
Once you've gone there, order the video. Well worth the money.

Peterdear : I'll sucumb to your underfeelings. You can be a bamf if I can get the "T". You needn't worry though, I'm collecting lots of stuff to take over to Bonneville. Wait until you see some of the T's I've already got.

DaveG Head : My arse has plenty of padding. What's the pay like ?

As for anyone hitting anything whilst on two wheels, good luck. It's just another hazard to be avoided, but who knows what's around the next corner.

Firebolt Brochure: Who the hell did all that rubber burning in 1983 ? Most Battletwins, as if there's more than a truck load of 'em, are\were museum\collectors pieces. Mind you, bold statements indeed, are just what the Buell boys need, and I'm sure a slight exaggeration is "A" OK.

I visited the Buell/HD dealer today, and scored a 2002 Buell catalog. Cool description of the Firebolt, with good pix. I like it a lot! No price yet, but she volunteered that she was told between 7k-8k at the show, "unofficially". Anybody have more than conjecture about the price? I almost put money down on the first one they get (nobody else has yet). Anyone want a 98 V-Max?? it may be looking for a home soon!!

Richard,
There's somebody where I work looking for a V-Max to play with over the winter here in Wisconsin. If you're price isn't too high let me know and I'll pass the info on. But if it's a nice bike then his tight budget probably won't fit.

I heard the Firebolt was going to be priced around the X1. $7-$8K sounds way too cheap.

Depends on their target market, and on what they have planned next. When I get my S2, and if I get my M2 back, or if I don't get my M2 back and get an S1 as a replacement, no matter what, I should be in the market for a new Buell late next summer.

I don't see the XB as a "replacement" for anything Buell currently offers. I see it as something new. This link will take you to an Autonews article about the V-Rod that someone posted here or elsewhere. Read one of the last quotes from some H-D corp. guy: "We hope it (the V-Rod) does not appeal to our traditional customers," Werner said.. I do not think that opinion applies to the Firebolt and Buell customers, in my own opinion anyway. I also think that Werner guy is going to have some explaining to do on Monday morning. :)

I'd say the Werner guy is letting us in on their ideas. They want more market share. They've got the retro crowd hooked. Now they need the guy who'd go out and buy a Magna or Mean Streak. Hook this guy and you've got even more of the cruiser market locked up.

XB is suppossed to be less than a X1 and competing w/ middle-weights. The early figure bantered around here was $9,000-9,500. If they actually sell is between $7,000-8,000 they'll really pull themselves up. $9-9,500 is too much in my book.

Course this is all pillow-talk for me as I'm not buying any new bike anytime soon...I'm currently shopping for a late 60's norton special...hey, I like to commute in style.

I really can't wait to see what happens w/ AMA and if they let the XB compete in the 600cc. That's a bold move to go up against those bikes (which I thought was all BS from the peanut gallery when first mentioned).

The dealers promotional video ends with Erik saying "I'm ready to go racing with this thing....If they'll let me."

I figured They were his HD handlers. Maybe he meant the AMA.
