thinking of installing one. Could go with Nissan for reasonable price, or Braking for almost double. Any feedback on whether the Braking radial M/C is worth the extra for street use?

Just get proper size as an OEM for another bike and you will be fine. Braking, Accosato, Brembo, Galespeed, etc are all about extra features and/or aesthetics.

I've never understood the functional benefit of radial vs. conventional m/c's. The radial is a Class 2 lever https://www.school-for-champions.com/machines/leve rs_classess.htm#.WwKU20gvyUk and the conventional is a class 1.

I suppose it saves a small length of aluminum since it would be shorter.

Supposedly less flex, better feel, etc.

I'm not Rossi.

I did change to a radial, because I upgraded to a ZTL2 and needed a 19mm master anyway, so why not.

And ya, an OE application would be fine, but not as good looking, if that's your thing. I figure no one is looking at it when my knee is on the ground

Nissin says the right size for the 6 piston ZTL is 17mm. Brembo has a 17mm RCS which allows you to adjust the pivot to plunger distance (i.e. the amount of leverage). But I guess you could get just about the same effect by moving the mount back and forth along the bar so your hand grabs the lever closer to or further from the lever pivot.

I too changed when moving to the ZTL2. Had them (radial m/c) for years on race bikes. Once you use one, you'll never go back. Buy the Nissin through Shindy or Amazon (~$180) and you'll see. The biggest difference is the VERY linear pull when braking.
