can someone help an IT illiterate here? trying to download the program. got the mono etc. installed. down to the activation step. I have everything filled in except that little box that asks for the key. If i understand correctly i should have received some info about a key but can't find it. Can someone please explain this in a way a 95 year old can understand? Thanks. | ||

Did you send off the fee as asked? And what year bike are you working on? | ||

You will get a key once you make the payment (donation to the hospital), you would then use the key you are given to activate your ECM. Did you make the donation yet? | ||

thanks Jim. With the help of a younger person i see that I do have the ecmspy icon which opens up what looks like the ecmspy program. However, I understand that they send you a demo program. I did not get to activate my program. I was on the page where you fill in your own info, including the particular application needed (i.e. for which bike). I could not figure out how to fill in that one little box entitled "key". I may have agreed to pay but did not reach the point where i was prompted to make the payment. The frustrating thing is I can't figure out how to get back to that page. The other prompts would have me installing ecmpsy.mono for a second time. Maybe I should delete it all and start over? | ||

sorry, the bike is 2006 Uly with standard ECU. | ||

You do that part here - http://ecmspy.com/swreg.shtml That said, your 2006 will work fine with the old free version of ECMspy if you want to use that instead. The creators asked that we don't share any links to it, but you can find it with your favorite search engine, BuellXB.com has a copy of it | ||

Thanks Froggy. I don't mind donating to a good cause. I am back on that page. when I click on the choose file button it takes me to a file on my computer called ecmspy in the documents section. That file has 4 subfiles. Only the subfile called applog has any content. It has 3 textfiles called ecmspy_log followed by a date of download and another 6 digit number. I chose one and hit submit. I then get a message that I selected 1 ecm type so I pay 50 pounds. When I hit OK I get a message that says "...severe error...invalid file type for keyfile (error-32) select only filenames with a "txt" in teh file extension. Unable to continue processing" But the file I used has txt in the extension. What gives? | ||

think I got it. It said to click on the information icon in the menu bar. I didn't realize they meant I had to open the ecmspy program to get the menu bar. Once I did that it seemed to go OK. did the donation. got the notice about activation request. Not sure if i have it now, will try to figure that out in the morning. |
