Hi, I bought an 08 XB12XT last week to get back into riding after not riding for 10 years. Saturday I took it for a good long ride. On the way home I happened to look down and saw the Vtwin light on so, I started to pull over and shut the kill switch off. I heard the fan on and then the fan and light turned off at the same time. I restarted and kept goin. It happened again. I got home and checked the dip stick ( I had just changed the oil) and it was now down in the add zone. The P.O. had an ECMSPY cable in the package so I was thinking of checking it out but I saw a post saying not to use it on 2008 and newer bikes. Does this still hold true? What advice would you offer this new Buell owner? Thanks. |

This thread explains how to read the check engine light without a computer: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/146574.html Oil level -- there's lots of discussion on this site, but the Coles notes version is: Check the oil hot immediately after shutdown (the oil tends to drain into the motor, giving a false low). Don't run the oil level higher than 1/2 way up the add/full marks on the dipstick. |
