Can I use a 2004 XB12 ECM on a 2006 Uly with stock exhaust? Mine has an EBR Race ECM. Wanting to re-set TPS and do some tuning but there is no ecmspy download for the EBR ECM. I got in touch with EBR who advise that my ECM is pre-programmed for the factory Pro Race exhaust and did not come with the tuning software they supplied with tunable ECMs. They say this one cannot be re-mapped and ecmspy can damage the ECM. Just picked up an ECM for a 2004 XB12S cheap thinking it can be tuned using ecmspy and no big loss if it gets fried. Any downside with different year? I believe the fan logic may have changed but can that be changed using the ecmspy software? |

The 04 and 06 use the same generation of DDFI, so the ECMs are interchangeable. Stock vs stock, a stock 06 ECM would have some slightly different fuel mapping due to changes to the airbox, but that is not a huge issue. Free ECMspy can tune the 04 stock ECM, but not the EBR Race ECM. There is a paid version of ECMspy where you make a donation to a hospital, that one can edit any Buell ECM, including the EBR Race ECM. In addition, other tools like TunerPro can do it too but are not as easy to use as ECMspy. My understanding is ECMDroid for Android supports them all too, but I've not played with it enough to confirm. Regarding the fan logic, that only applies to the 2008 and newer bikes. |

A quick free ECMSpy clarification - ECMSpy will...change/adjust the "Buell Race", ECM as well as the stock/OEM, ECM. It won't work with the "EBR Race", ECM. Mike |
