Got the oil (Mobile 1 15/50) now I need to know what oil filters to use and the #'s for them. |

I use a fram, you can get it at walmart. It's actually not a motorcycle filter. I think its a truck filter. The old buells use a PH6022 but the XBs use the same filter as the blasts. Its a PH4967. I'm looking into buying one of the stainless steel Scotts oil filters http://www.scottsonline.com/indexmain.htm |

The Buell Filter is sourced from a company called Champion. The very same filter is available from Walmart as a Super Tech ST4967. They cost about $2.00, which is about a quarter of what my local friendly Harley dealer charges. I would not recommend the Fram. Comparative filter tests that I have seen rate these filters at the bottom of the pile. PS: While you are at Walmart, you might want to pick up some five quart bottles of Mobil 1: good for two changes and cost about $20. (Message edited by gentleman_jon on November 06, 2004) |

I just changed my oil yesterday and replaced the old filter with a K & N oil filter (HP-1003). With all the recent chat about Fram, I was informed awhile back (like 2 or 3 years) by a Auto Zone employee not to use them. |

That's the oil I got Gent. Love those 5 qt. bottles. I stopped using fram years ago. Thanks for the #'s. Helps with finding the right ones. |

Anybody using Golden Spectro Vsyn-3? It is a full synthetic specifically made for air-cooled American V-Twins. Thats what I've been using. I'm going cut open my filter next time I change my oil to see what it has been catching. |

I have also heard bad things about Fran filters. My choice is the Wix filter. I don't have the number with right now. Check this page out. Have fun reading... http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/oil_filter_study/ |
