So I'm looking at a xb12s, I would like some feed back on the bike good or bad. I'm not new to buells, just been since 2000 since I had one in the garage. How are they for getting parts and work done if needed? Is it still Harley parts in the motor? Thanks for any feedback! |

I've had an Xb12S for some time. Mostly been an occasional driver. But lately, splitting lanes in L.A. Freeway traffic is pretty easy on this bike. Turns quick, without effort. So far, (27,000+ mi) hasn't needed anything but gas and oil. Gets 50ish mpg., even at 85mph during my 84 mile a day trip. And yea, if you look around this site, there is a few Harley dealers that have or can get parts. One dealer bought out a major Buell shop a while back. Can be found within this site. My big RX has been sitting lately..! Mike |

Yeah - what they said above; Without angering the gods herein, it's a simple-stupid, fuel injected, air cooled motor with a self adjusting hydraulic valve train, and a belt final drive. Instructions: Fill with gas, ride, change the oil, repeat. I've bought (2); a 2003 XB9R w/14k mi for $2600 that came with a race exhaust and select seat, and a 2005 XB9R w/22k mi for $2200. I can buy them up here in the Northeast for $2k all day long....XB12s are another $500 and $800-$1000 more for a Ulysses. Power and reliability are excellent, and the parts supply is actually starting to improve in my opinion, as it appears any Harley dealer that WANTS to, can order parts. Hope this helps |

I picked up an 04 XB12s with just under 19k miles about 6 years ago fro $3200. Now has about 42k miles. I had to fix an electrical problem (common bad connection down by the oil pump), replace the fuel pump, and fix a broken clutch ramp. Otherwise, just normal maintenance. Pretty easy to work on. I do all my own maintenance except for changing tires. If taken care of they will run, and run, and run, and... Did a 2k round trip to Indiana this summer with no problems. As stated above, there are plenty of HD dealerships and other sources for parts. Haven't had any issues getting parts I need. And she still brings a smile to my face. |
