Hey guys - I'm in the market for another Buell and a buddy wants to sell me his, but I can't get over this... The frame looks like it's been cut and welded around the pucks. It's flat where it normally curves out and theres welding all around this area. Have you ever seen this before?
It seems to be a great bike aside from this. He bought it like this and has owned it for about 5 years. We've ridden together several times and other than this it seems to be in great shape and maintained. What do you think happened? |

I agree, it does look welded. Possible it had crash damage on both sides (big dents) and it was somehow cut and repaired. The air scoops line up better on an unmodified frame. |

I never saw anyone actually do that. I have seen several dented in and ugly but I have never seen someone cut'n paste a patch in there. I'm really curious what the inside of the tank looks like. |

If you can life with the repair and the price is right go for it! There are lot's of xb buells with frame damage and repairs ,the do not ride worse when damaged! Have on myself that i pulled the dent out the frame and welded up the rest ,it rides awesome and i ride it most of the time a bit more aggressive as the not damaged buell. |

Pre-crashed. Takes the burden off of you to crash it. |

Isn't that bad looking to me..! Nice welds all around. While it is possible, I doubt there's any holes, just a covered dent. A nicely done cover-up of an ugly dent if you ask me. Mike |

There is a liner inside that is now certainly wrecked. |

There is a liner inside that is now certainly wrecked. There are people that have the frame powder coated and never talked about a issue after this process! |

As I understand powder coating is slightly different from either cutting and/or welding...} |

Thanks for the input guys. I went ahead and bought the bike because the price was right and it runs well. Happy to be back on a buell after a 3 year absence. I wasn't aware that there's a liner inside the tank. What's this liner consist of and is it just to prevent corrosion? |
