Have an 08 XB9SX with the BUEOD ecm. Am told that it can be upgraded to BUE2D firmware? What are the advantages and is this only something an HD dealership can do? thanks! |

If your bike is running great, there is no real advantage. Some bikes, especially earlier 08s had rough fueling which was fixed in an update. The dealer can reflash the ECM, one way to know you have the latest flash is the fan operation is different, it doesn't run the fan as much below 15mph and rarely turns on when you turn the bike off. |

Well, just got word that the local HD dealership no longer has the tools to do this upgrade. Any ideas where/how to do this? thanks! Bryan,TX (Message edited by buford on March 14, 2017) |

Unfortunately it isn't something that can be done by a consumer, only dealers have the tool Another option might be to send the ECM to IDS, they are the company that made every Buell ECM, I've heard you can pay them to even put the Race ECM programming on your stock ECM. http://idspd.com/ |

Thanks for the tip Froggy; now just waiting to hear back from a couple of Houston area HD shops. |

Well the only dealership to even respond thus far is the one here in town. The Ranch (HD) was up front..said they just didn't have the tooling. 5 dealers in Houston have yet to respond as well as the folks at IDS. Who knows? |

When buell was winding down, instead of every dealer in houston being a Buell dealer,,it turned into a senority thing. Thusly mancuso was the actual last buell dealer in houston . More so at the crossroads location than down at main and 610 location. Kristen was the lady that I went thru. I had parts numbers , called , paid over the phone, and she shipped to my house. Heck of a deal since I'm south of houston. Good luck on finding what you need! |

i'm in a similar situation right now. i ordered the Buelltooth ecm dongle, and im waiting for a reply from them with an updated ecm map for my specific setup. can you not order a ecmspy cable or bluetooth dongle and flash it yourself? |

The firmware change is at a lower level in the hardware than tools like ECMspy and TunerPro can access, so it isn't something someone with a dongle and freeware can take care of. |

Should be a $50, 30 minute job at a dealer. All they have is an "Update" to install and is all inclusive of the firmware and latest stock fuel mapping. I paid Bartels Harley $150 to flash the firmware to BUE2D from a glitchy BUEZD on my '08 Stt. Took them 4 hours. And now it reads in kilometers. And they don't know how to fix it. |

Used to be that ECM Spy could pull/push full firmwares... Did that change somehow? |
