Those numbers are firmware versions, not software versions or part numbers or anything meaningful. The only use they have is for when comparing data collected from ECMs, like a BUE2D ECM will have the data in the same spot as another BUE2D ECM. B3R3D will have differences, so while the first byte of data on one ECM might be part of a fuel map, the same byte could be related to an error code on another. That is why the old free ECMspy isn't compatible with EBR ECMs, they have a newer firmware than what existed in 2007 when it was last updated, and doing a TPS reset will change the wrong values. These days all ECMs within a generation are the same part number and are shipped blank from the warehouse. The dealer then uses the Digital Tech to program it to the right software for the bike. |

Sagehawk, Negative on the laptop...my computer skills are limited to getting by at work and paying bills online! The guy I bought the bike from gave me a disk with what he said was ECMspy and a patch cable...but I have never even put the disc in my computer. I will have some time off next week...maybe we could get together over this thing and you could enlighten me a bit...I don't see on here how to send a private message...I assume I don't want to put my cell number on the message board?!?!?! |

I owe a big 'Thank You' to Sagehawk...he spent a Saturday afternoon in my garage plugged into my Uly. We verified that the temp sensor I changed was sending good data to the ECM...verified that the new fan actually ran via the ecm test. We made a change to the fan 'on' setting and turned off the exhaust valve since I have a Hawk muffler Mod and cleared all codes. ...then went for a short ride to get a bite before he rode home. Sunday I rode over to Gtown and low and behold the fan ran as I would expect it to. Thanks again for you time and knowledge Sagehawk! |

So the fan was turned off in the ECU? |

Negative...the change we made was to lower the 'key on' on temp for the fan from 220c to 200c...no impact on the original problem. So either poking around in the ECM and running diagnostics...and/or me changing the temp sensor...or just verifying that it was up to temp for fan on (possible that I never let it get up to the on temp after the fan replacement) was the 'fix'...either way...without being plugged into the ECM and live logging I would not have been able to verify either. I have a garage full of 2 wheeled things..but the Uly is my favorite for daily use and I am back in business! Thanks again to Sagehawk! |

I'm not sure of a place to turn the fan off in spy except to simply set fan on parameters so high that it won't get hot enough to turn it on. Old spy wouldn't do what we wanted. Had some connectivity issues with laptop and old spy. Using dawiz50 cable and even looked like mine , wouldn't hook up. Driver issues. Notebook with ver 2 spy hooked up and fan test worked. We idled bike up to 220c and fan came right on. Cleared amc codes and reset fan on to 200c. Didn't change key off settings on fan temp. Still some work to do as afv was around 117. Hawk muffler and air filter are reasons there. Bike runs good except for still bad running 3000rpm or so. Gonna make another variation of my 07 map and try I think. Dawiz50 maps are still lean I believe as stock ecm hasn't been changed yet if at all. Always a work in progress, these buells are! |

Dawiz50, has the fan come at all while running? If not, set your bike up somehow to carry notebook and we'll data log while riding. Only way to see what temps your at while at operating temp. |

I haven't had the chance to ride but the 1 trip to Galveston the day after we worked on it so still have not heard the fan run while riding. I have a set of soft bags that will work...just need to time. Got my granddaughter for 2 weeks for her summer vacation now...Between that and work no time to play right now. I will get with you when we can do some riding and data log to see whats going on. Did you have a chance to see if any of those old maps for the S1 and X1 bikes on that disc were valid? |

Whatever changes like that, be good to do now and get a few miles so ecm will stabilize. Daughter has had her foot surgery and since she can't drive, been hanging at my house. That stuff never goes away. Grandboy coming in this evening so thru weekend will be busy! But I like him so it's ok! Lol! Watching him and that small pyr together is something. That pyr owns that boy, heart n soul. I will spend some time to see what's on that disc this weekend. I've been looking your maps over tho, and you look to be mostly leaner than mine. Been figuring best way to hit a middle for both bikes and then see what's individual best for each. What rpm / load were you having that stuttering at? |

Good deal...gotta enjoy them while you can! It stumbles at around 2800 to 3000...at steady throttle...other than that I have no complaints! I have read about being a common problem...most post automatically ask if you have done a TPS reset...lol |
