I really love these bike but have never ridden or heard one. I was wondering if the firebolts sound like Harleys. |

My XB12R sounded somewhat like my Harley XL1200S if compared with stock pipes on both. The two to one exhaust on the XB is a bit quieter. As Tatsu noted they sound more alike when both have aftermarket pipes. |

I guess the best way to describe it is the rythm of the motor sound is very much like a stock Harley...if one knows the sound of a Harley it is unmistakable what the motor is. However once you open up the exhaust as noted above the volume increases greatly and the motor opens up to "lope" more at idle to sound pretty much exactly like a Harley. What is funny is that people look around for a Harley and are amazed to hear it coming out of my bike! |

"What is funny is that people look around for a Harley and are amazed to hear it coming out of my bike!" I finally had that happen and it was so funny. |

I went from a Cyclone with a superttapp (potatoe... potatoe... potatoe... potatoe) to a 9s... (tater.tater.tater.tater.tater.tater) Gotta get me a drummer though. They are all air cooled common crank 45 degree aircooled pushrod twins, they will all sound perfect, just the way God intended an internal combustion engine to sound. |

Max there are a couple on the board that have went back to the stock ECM combo be cause of problems with the bikes not running right. But most are not having problems including myself and I run a D&D with a race ECM.You should run the race ECM to be on the safe side. |
