2009 XB12Scg. Anyone ever have one break? Throttle won't return home without manually doing it. Cables are not crimped anywhere, lubed them with dry lube. The spring is very easily manipulated with a screwdriver at open throttle position and closed.

Is this serviceable in the bike? It appears I can get a 1/4 drive on the deally the cables are attached to.

Before you go crazy, check the throttle body itself for sticking. My 08 became hard to move and would not go WOT without extreme effort a while back. Found out that the throttle shaft was getting gummed up and not allowing it to move. Took a few applications of spray solvent and working the throttle to free it up. Of course no easy way to keep solvent out of the intake, just have to hold it open and allow to dry.

Have you tested without the cables attached?
And seen that the spring is missing a piece or think it is?

No Mees I didn't. When I twist to wide open throttle, I can stick a screwdriver down on the return spring and move it, most return springs I've come across are tight in that position. I'm thinking one end broke off from it's stop(I can see the top side).

Just curious if anyone else has experienced this. This is my wife's bike, and I can tell you it has never seen WOT while she's ridden it; ) We went to a track day a couple weeks ago and the tech guy checked the throttle and it wasn't snapping back fast. Fortunately he was an EBR rider and let her through anyway as long as she was aware of it.

I had a look at a 06/07 manifold in the parts stash and the spring is tight around there. (08 and later is probably not the same)
Maybe you can look with a small mirror!?

Looking at twinmotorcycles side it's not a separate part ,but the spring could be a ford part to!

Stupid question, as I had this happen to me today.....

Have you taken apart (separated) the controls on the throttle side? I did, and then over-tightened the slack adjusters on the bottom. When the cable comes up into the housing there is a 90 degree bend and the cable can drag.

Snapped the throttle warming it up and it hung.....scared the hell out of me.

As these guys said, undo everything to eliminate the throttle tube hanging, the housing as I stated, and check for proper return. Especially if you have had things apart/moved around. Just a thought.

If the spring is broke at one end ,remove and compare it at your local parts store.
