A friend of mine has a firebolt making a noise similar to the noise in this thread... http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/disc us.cgi?pg=next&topic=32777&page=574024 And a new vid of the noise my friend's bike is making... https://www.facebook.com/Jimbobengineer/videos/102 06005658203915/ Any ideas? He's got the engine rotated now so we can't make any more recordings. |

well if you got the engine rotated already, there's not much keeping you from pulling the rocker covers and having a look, right? |

Yeah, strip it down and take a look. |

He will for sure... just thought someone could offer some insight as to where to start looking. It sounds like top end though? |

Can't watch the video because it's on facebook and I refuse to have an account there, or it is no longer available. |

And one you have the rocker box off anyway, you should probably pull the cam cover if you have odd noises. You don't want to button it up then decide you have to go back in there later. On an XB, you can probably even reuse the gasket. The frequency of that noise in the video was oddly slow relative to the rest of the motor. |
