What's the scoop? The cavity is melted.I hear,"a new VR"/w upgraded(?) Packard Weatherpack connector.I'd need a mating shell and spades anyway so I think. Can I just REPLACE the existing "heat cycled" and worn shells? Weatherpack? MetriPack? I got stranded twice last summer.Cleaned the plug once.A real TOP NOTCH XBR.. Thanks |

If you buy a new VR, it comes with the new version of the 77 connector, and it includes the other end to splice onto your wiring harness. HD also sells the connector replacement kit separate. A cheaper and easier fix is to get some marine grade connectors from a hardware store and splice those on instead. |

It's a Delphi brand Packard Metri-Pack connector (to 30 AMPS Weather-Pack to only 20 AMPS).Got it done.EASY once I had the proper gage crimping pliers for 10 ga. wire.SILLY me,I didn't study AWG first,THEN I measured as 10 Ga.I can now crimp 22-14 ga Metri-Pack connectors as well as the 10 ga. wires the subject here. The pliers were each $140. The shells and spades and seals were only a COUPLE Bucks.I can now add Packard Metri-Pack connectors to my arsenal of crimping pliers to do AMP Multi-Lock as well as Deutsche connectors EASILY.THe new pliers crimped easily w/in minutes...Want pics? |

Those are the good crimpers, not a cheap device. Need to do a bunch of custom work on a touring bike, going to need a set of decent metripack crimpers myself. |

If your crimp tool doesn't weigh enough to be something you would grab to ward off an angry wombat, you need a different crimp tool. |

(Oh, and as a side note, you can get assembled connectors of a lot of different types with pigtails on ebay and amazon pretty affordably... so that's another decent option... I just get some an solder the pigtails onto the existing wiring...) |

Yeah, cheaper options but these types of plugs are everywhere auto and bikes. And I have many of each. I actually reversed the cavities A for B and went back to correct costing me another 3/16" shorter harness. Not much there to play with
