Hey yall this is my first post but I have been reading up on the forum for a while now. I have a 2004 buell xb12r that is running like crap. Sputtering and backfiring when I hit the throttle hard and even stalling out sometimes. I've noticed the issue is worse when the bike is warm. Things I have done/replaced: Ignition coil Spark plugs Tps reset from local dealer Cleaned and tightened all grounds Grounded ignition coil to negative on battery As of now I am stumped on what it could be ! Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated! Only mods are a d&d muffler and open airbox |

Check the intake gaskets. Might be worth sending the fuel injectors to be cleaned too. |

Ok I will take a look at the gaskets, is there a specific way to check them? |

With the bike idling, spray WD-40 or carburetor cleaner at the manifold connections on the cylinder heads. If the engine speeds up, you've got leaky intake gaskets. |

And can you look at ecm with ECM_Spy to see what info bike has to tell you--like what the AFV is?? |

If it's not the plug wires ---> Fuel pump, bad tps, bad CPS , ECM or injectors. ^ those all can cause that. |

Could be the filters on the fuel pump too, it's old enough that a new pump and injector service might be of value, but it would be about $225 worth of expense. (new pump, new input strainer, new high pressure filter, injector service) |
