Theres not much clearance under there with the suspension movement. Also, most states require the plate to be lit at night.

I will put an led light to hold them, so it will me lighted when I mount it and it shouldn't affect the suspension when I mount it there....

I'll be doing that too. I have my temporary plate there now and you can see it very nicely from 5'-6' away. I'll probably get some nice LED's to mount it with as well.

Hello,

This is my first post to this group. I just joined the other day, but have been checking out the site for a short time. Great info and folks.
I just re-located the plate on my XB9R. I just used a small piece of aluminum angle, and used the two bolts that hold on the under tray. I have not yet added lighting. Got the keep the man happy. I will try to attach a photo of my mod.
Later,
Joe

That blue tape is a great idea no cops can see the plate and then they can't call you in. I can't believe someone didn't come up with this before!

let's try not to hijack the post and put silly ideas...... that looks nice toolsnbuells but should've moved it a little further though to make it look better but nice job though.... I am going to be doing that though too much work I am just going to move the plate to the back and it is going to flush to the edge and mount it with the led light that I got from pepboys... I also replaced the rear turn signals with lp shortstalk turnsignals with led in it... I still have to figure out how to put flush mounts in the front.

I'm in the process of moving mine also. removed blinkers form the tail and need the LED brake light/indicator setup. then put the plate all the way under. I might have time to finish it this weekend.

I finished mine but I changed my mind using the leds to mount the plate instead I will be putting the leds intersecting with turnsignals and the leds will be pointing down to shine a light to the license plate so this will act as the light for the plate so if all goes well I am going to have one sweet ride

Jeez, My first post and I get s&@% from the crowd (Gschutte). Just in good fun, I hope. Jabrien00-I placed the plate there for several reasons. Utilize the existing mounting bolts. The plate clears the shock and rear fender during max rear wheel compression. Plate remained vertical enough to satisfy visibility requirements of the laws in NC, SC and TN. I did not want to make a donation to the local coffers, if you know what I mean. I would like to see your ideas on the lighting, as I have not made a decision as to how I am going to do it. Post some pictures when you
get yours completed.

Later,

Joe

I don't have an 9s but a 9r and I didn't do anything fancy with mounting the plate like you did to yours but I just took off the mount and moved the plate all the way down the tail section near the shocks and it is flushed with the end of that back undertail section. The plate is very visible for anyone to see but it is slanted.
