I bought my 2004 xb12s with a k&n intake already installed and recently put on a drummer ss exhaust on it and noticed some decal backfire. It's pretty tame aside from a few big pops here and there. Other than that it runs just fine and pulls awesome. I talked to Kevin at kdfab and he said its okay to run it without a tune, so I'm waiting to do that another time. Is this normal, or is there anything I should be worried about?

Worry about unnerving another rider as you come up from behind them. Kinda fun hearing the bike pop and growl

OFTEN it's a bad exhaust port gasket. Leaking will get it to pop on decel.

At least it's a cheap fix.

A little intake and exhaust work commonly causes some decel popping. In fact, pretty much any engine set up to perform a bit does the same. All my bikes do it!

If you don't want the popping, you can either tune the efi for less power or put the stock intake and exhaust parts beck on.
