Trying to weld will be difficult do to the extra carbon that has been absorbed by the steel from the exhaust gases. Braising might work. I am sure others will chime in as well. Thats the best info I have to offer. Dave |

Yes it could be welded but stays always visible that its repaired. Maybe this is a good reason to get a nice header from Dean! |

Guess this makes my $500 set look a little less expensive, especially since it fits the stock muffler and most aftermarket ones as well. http://www.ebay.com/itm/COLLECTORS-FOR-EXHAUST-TER MIGNONI-BUELL-XB-12-R-S-X-2006-06-2007-07-STEEL-/1 61005382317?hash=item257cab2aad&vxp=mtr That said, a stock xb12 header would be a cheap upgrade, that looks like a xb9 header in your pic. |

My X1 header started to crack there too. I caught it before it finished cracking apart. My friend TIG welded it with the correct type of stainless filler rod. It's been 40,000 miles so far. It looks like birdshit though I would suggest a new pipe since getting the angle just right will be really hard. |

It was two years ago. snapped off one of the studs. That might have something to do with it.. |
