Admittedly I haven't searched for a related thread. Here's my issue: Battery is fully charged. With the bike in neutral I turned the ignition on and it behaved normally; Gauges swept, fuel pump primed, dash lights on. I hit the starter switch and it sounded like the starter tried to engage but the engine didn't turnover. The dash lights went out and I had no power. I let it sit for a moment and the neutral indicator light started to glow faintly. When I flipped the run switch to off the neutral light was fully illuminated. Flip run switch back to run and the dash lights dim significantly. Hit the starter button and the lights go out. Rinse, repeat. My initial thought is that it is either the starter solenoid or the starter but wanted to check here to see if anyone has had a similar experience and can recommend a starting point to diagnose the issue. Thanks in advance for the help. |

Weak battery or cable connections need cleaned or both, most likely. |

Or you just need to tighten the battery connections. |

What Hughlysses said. I Ran into the same thing this year when I pulled my bike outta storage. It was doing the same exact thing. |

I did find a little corrosion on the + connection and decided to swap batteries with another bike. The original battery was definitely weak but there appears to be another issue. To take the battery out of the equation I connected the bike directly to the battery in my car. When I attempted to start the bike without the car engine running the bike would just click (I think this is the starter solenoid) but it wouldn't turn over. Next I started the car so that I'd get additional power from the alternator and tried again. This time the bike clicked several times before the started engaged and turned over the engine. I held the start button for 10 ~ 15 secs before the she fired. I shut the bike off and tried to restart it with the same result. Clicks for a few seconds before the starter engages then 10 ~ 15 secs before she'll fire. Disconnected from the car and installed a new Shorai battery but it only clicks when I hit the start button. Any other thoughts or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks |
