Wow these are a whole nother animal from my s1s! I picked up a 03 xb9r- first time today wrenching on a non tuber buell. OK so I drained the gas(been sitting for probably 2-3 years. And turned the key on... no pump whine, check engine light and no spark. Gas light came on about 3 out of the 7 times I turned it over and the neutral light comes on. Checked the fuses not that. ECM? Would that cut both the spark and fuel pump? I've got a 07 lightning manual is this the same? Junkie Sam the roofing man said it was the kickstand switch, replaced with the new one that came with it, nothing of course. (One bright side to buying a bike from a sketchy dude- him and his buddy had it loaded for me lickity split!) Anybody want to help me with an order of operations? I'll check some things with a multimeter next chance I get. Manual says no check engine light= bulb, fuse or ECM. Don't know if I'll get back to it till next weekend so no hurry, The other thought is I'm into it fairly cheap and there looks to be about 3 or 4 oil leaks, a blown fork seal and who knows what else. Is parting it out maybe a better option, I mean if there's rocker boxes or base gaskets gone I'll be pulling the motor anyways, right? |

Weak ground will do it, you may need to remove the frame ground and clean it to have good contact on bare metal. Same for the battery. Why part it out? You bought it to ride it, right? |

Pull the clutch in, might be an interlock issue. If the stand I'd down you won't have fuel unless the clutch is pulled. That of course assumes the fuel pump even runs. Good news is that if the pump is bad, a search will get the correct parts for you, and most are from Autozone. |
