can I nit pick? the word is of not off.. in case off a Ullysses with side case rack.. in this case off a belt replacement, .. little drop off Blue loctite.. thx for posting the instructions, interesting you can do it without removing the idler pulley.. and on a Uly XT you need to take off rear fender and brake caliper too I think, don't forget your special tools to get at the top 2 torx fasteners on that fender. seems I have several more tools involved with changing the belt, mostly just to access the spots. I mean couldn't they have picked either torx or allen heads all around this bike but not such a mix of different parts? working on my Guzzi was a lot less tool intensive. could do most work with a 10 and 13mm hex wrench maybe a 5mm allen and a 17/19mm open end for the big stuff. } Not saying Guzzi is better, I sold it once I got a Buell. |

Not true. I've done it on all my Buells including my 1125CR, procedure is basically the same for all of them. No need to touch the pulley or remove the fender. On the Uly/SS fender, it is part of the belt guard so you can remove the right most screws just so you can push the belt guard portion out of the way. His tool list is accurate too. Off the top of my head I used a T27 for bodywork, 1/4" allen key for the pinchbolt, 22mm or 7/8" allen key for the axle, and I believe a 3/8" allen for the swingarm brace and footpeg mount. |

got it, guess I was thinking of wheel removal since I did tires at the same time.. not disputing the tool list. just don't like working with those itty bitty torx bits and different handles to reach them all. 'spose I should get a proper set but will still need to squeeze in there with a bit and open end to get the top fender torx out. so you don't need lock tight on the axle pinch bolt? the Guzzi rear wheel could be off in about 30 seconds..and no belt to worry about.. I only miss it when working on the Uly, never when riding.. |

I don't use any locktite. The caliper doesn't need to be touched for wheel removal either, but having it out of the way makes thing easier. Wheel removal consists of removing the pinchbolt, jacking up bike, removing the axle, push the belt out of the way, then wiggle the wheel out. It is not a 30 second job, but it is nothing complex or difficult, hell even I can do it yet I can screw up making cereal. |

My trick for the rear caliper is to mash the caliper with my hand so that the "jaws" are more open. This makes it more easy to get the wheel back on. But rear wheel doesn't need to be removed to do belt. |

Yeah that belt change is easy peasy. I did mine in a Super 8 parking lot in St. George, UT on my way home (to Seattle) from Texas. Took me about 2 hours and 2 cups of coffee. Fortunately I brought a spare belt and the tools to do it. Taking the top fender off the Uly wasn't a big deal or anything and I feel like it gave me more room to operate. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-hjhJPgiaS1U/Uch 9ckDFGjI/AAAAAAAAMN0/vY_uIdH3wkQ/w640-h480-no/2013 0619_082502.jpg |
