Hey guys, newbie here. I just purchased a 2005 XB12R and have a quick question since I don't have time to take it apart just yet. Upon inspection, it appears as though there is a wet residue (like dried oil) in the flat space behind the rear cylinder. It looks like a tight spot to get in to clean, but I was more concerned as to whether this indicates that something is leaking that shouldn't be. I'll try to get a photo shortly, hopefully all is good with the new ride. Thanks! |

It is more than likely the starter gasket since the bottom of the cylinder looks clean. Get some S-100, spray it down and scrub it a bit and rinse it well. Then see how long it takes to come back. |

They do that. Keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't go from a weep to a puddle (which it probably will never do) and go ride the bike. |

My xb has the same ,and have seen it happen on a couple of xb's. Nothing to worry about if its not going to be a puddle! |

Thanks for the quick responses. Got it cleaned up today and I will be keeping an eye on it. |
