My sons firebolt XB9 very intermittently, like maybe once a week or 2 cuts out while riding it. The symptoms are just like the engine cut off switch is shut off. The bike loses ignition , I squeezed in the clutch and restarted it and it had a large backfire so I am assuming the stall was not from lack of fuel. Also the panel lights stay on so I again I am assuming it is not a faulty ignition switch. So my thoughts are , could it be the engine cut off switch or wiring, or an ECU signal not getting to the coil? Since this is so intermittent I was wondering if anyone has experienced this sort of problem? |

Read here - http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/744195.html?1407345985 Sounds much like the problems I was having. I put a different ECM in, set the TPS to the ECM, then had to do some remapping, but after that...no more cutting out (mine only cutout for seconds at a time), no more red dash lights, no more errors as noted from ECMSpy. If you can find "known good" ECM to use to test with, that would be my first experiment. They are also available from Eric Buell Racing, though not really cheap.. Good luck Mike P.s. - Also...thanks to all that commented on my original post.. (Message edited by 1_mike on August 27, 2014) |

Check the side stand switch, and update the earths with a wire from the battery to under the coils. I had a miss for years at 3000, the earth trick fixed it. |

Another thought, check fuse box it could be the fuse is not inserted properly, just use a multi meter and jiggle the fuse. Also the fuel pump on these bikes are also a bit iffy. I have updated mine with the later version, these are a different shape, a little easier to fit too. |
