Okay, maybe to be more precise, what do you do when whatever is on the engine cases starts coming off? When trying to clean my cases, an 08 so they're kind of grey in color, I noticed some flakes coming off around the swingarm mount. Not so bad, kind of out of sight. Then trying to remove grime from in front of the front cylinder and expose a couple of square inches of raw material. I know I won't find an exact match since I don't even know what kind of coating this is, but has anyone found a reasonable substitute as a touch up? |

I used some silver from a spray paint can for my 04 xb 12s and put it on with a small paint brush ,it was not the same but after a while its not noticeable anymore. |

The factory coating is powdercoat. I'm sure H-D offers touch up spray cans for it. I don't think H-D ever did any special colors for the Buell powertrains, so it should be the same as H-D powertrain powdercoat. Just an FYI, 1313 |

Surprise surprise, yeah, HD has a paint book with colors for all Buell parts. The 08 engine color is called something like bead blast grey, I got the part number somewhere now. $12 per can sold as a set of two, special order of course. Ah, do I want to spend the bucks or go the close enough route? |
