Hey guys, I've done quite a bit of searching on this forum and others on viable upgrades to our suspension. I know there are options such as new Ohlins front forks and new Penske rear shock (among others), but I'm looking for more information on rebuilding/upgrading the stock units. I've found some limited reviews/information on Race Tech and Traxxion Dynamics but would like some more personal reviews from other Buell owners on their experience with these upgrades. I specifically called Race Tech about their gold valve rebuild and re-spring for the front forks and rear shock and was quoted just over $1200. This seems a bit high but I would make the leap if I got more information from other Buellers that did this upgrade and enjoyed it's benefits on the street and the track. Please chime in guys about Racetech gold valves or any other viable aftermarket options for our Buells. I'd love to learn more about upgrading the most important part of the bike so I can get faster at the track. |

For what its worth in Motocross I've sent out a couple sets of suspension to race tech to get re-valved and they are top notch. Albeit for the mx bike its certainly cheaper but the build you've described is going to perform pretty damn good compared to stock. |

Race Tech rebuilt my S1's forks with new springs for my weight, seals, bushings & Gold valves for $604. So I would say what you were quoted for forks & shock is not out of line. I will say that the difference in handling, performance & comfort over stock is well worth it. This bike has never felt better in regards to handling & comfort on the street now. I'd imagine it would be better than stock on the track. (Message edited by Sparky on June 21, 2014) |
