Hey everyone, Hoping someone might be able to help me out. I've been trying to navigate the K&N site looking to replace the filter my bike had on it when purchased. Its a K&N Tapered Cone which seems closest to the RC-9080, Except mine has the x-treme flow top and that model has a closed metal top. I have the stock airbox on still have plan to put it all back together the way it came off. I just ordered a HAWK and want this baby breathing easy.

Thoughts? Suggestions? PIctures?

Thanks everyone

American Sport Bike will set you up.

Check the inside of the filter carefully for bits of metal screen from the manufacturer though.
Others and also myself found little bits wedged in there.

Personally I would stick with the stock air filter, it breaths pretty good and doesn't require reoiling. The reason the K&N breaths better is because it filters less and lets more crap into the motor.

Your priorities may be different (especially if you race), but for a street bike I find engine life to be more important than a power gain that is so insignificant it falls into the margin of error on dynos.

Properly oiled, my X1 has lasted 88,000 miles with no issues.
If you're taking the bike down dusty dirt roads, I would agree that K&N is not up to the task.

My uly doesn't seem to allow grit in the airbox. I clean and re-oil my filter but it never looks actually dirty like my X1's forcewinder out in the breeze.
