Sooo.... looking into a complete top end rebuild on my 06' uly.... anybody have any solid recommendations for a kit??? Also, putting some thought into an 88" hop-up kit, but curious as to weather or not it would be compatible with an EBR race ECM??? Thoughts - comments - recommendations would be greatly appreciated.... |

I think the 88" would require you to bore out the cases a bit. If you had the cases apart already, perhaps it would be worthwhile. What went wrong with your top end? |

Recommendations would be new lifters, new valves, fresh grind on the valve seats while you have everything apart. I would probably replace oil pump drive gear, check and maybe replace motor mounts because they are old. And I would probably rebuild the fuel pump, at least be filters/strainers. Probably would have the injectors cleaned too. I personally wouldn't go larger than the big bore kit that fits in the block, that should come with pistons to raise the compression a little too. Obviously all new gaskets and check all the other parts for wear while you have it apart. Hylomar of gaskets can help a lot. (Message edited by greg_e on May 28, 2014) |

Definitely check the crank while you have the jugs off. And on anything before 08, I'd stay with stock power levels for the stock crank, or put in the new crank if I'm hopping up the motor. |

88 kits require complete disassembly of the lower end to bore the spigot holes. Others will disagree with me but to have a crankcase live requires the use of iron cylinders. Every crankcase I have seen cracked had aluminum cylinders installed. |

He is saying if you bore the case , he recommends iron cylinders. |

I've been running 3 13/16 bores for a decade in the race bikes with Nik-a-sil jugs. No problems. |
