I've been shopping for an XB9S. The local HD/Buell dealership has 2 *new* '03 XB9SL's in black and yellow. The black one has been dropped on a test ride and has scrapes on the front brake lever, exhaust manifold, chin spoiler, and swingarm. They are trying to sell both as new and I can probably pick up the yellow (not dropped) one for $7k (already offered $6500) as they are getting desperate to unload them. I simply don't see how they can sell a dropped bike that is 2 years old and in need of $1k+ worth of repairs as new. I'm wondering if I should jump one it, or wait for a used '04 to become available for about the same price. It seems that there were some safety revisions made to the '04. I'm also wondering if there is a difference in the handling of the lowered version vs stock. I seemed to fit fairly comfortably on the XB9SL even though I am 6' tall. It looks like the SL would have less suspension travel and would be even LESS suitable for short 2-up trips. Any input and advice would be much appreciated. -Tim |

Could I interest you in a trip to Wisconsin? I have a used 03 XB9S with 1500 miles on it. It too has been dropped in a driveway, small scratch in the right side of frame, which I'll throw in a free set of frame pucks to hide and a small scratch on the front brake lever which I'll gladly replace. 6200.00 will buy it. Ride to the edge! Dave daves@h-dappleton.com PS I also have a used 04 XB12S with 2500 miles, traction grips for 8500.00 it has warranty thru Sept 05 Both bikes are black |
