I bought a legendary bike, the 2009 XB12Scg in a beautiful Cherry Bomb color. It is immaculate and completely stock except for barend weights to keep vibration down and the short tail section to clean up the backend. Less than 10k on the clock. My family is going though rough times and I decide that the bike will be sacrificed to save my family. I figure I could get a good $7-8k for the bike. I log on to a community that has always held a special place in my heart only to find that my pride and joy is nearly worthless with bikes going for as little as $2,500.00. What happened? |

Buells always have had shit for resale value, nothing new. Great for buyers, but sucks for sellers. I picked up my 06 SS for $4k in 2008, and two years ago got an 08 Uly for the same price. $5-6k is not unreasonable for a late model bike in great condition with minimal mods. I'm sorry to hear about your issues, but $2500 is what you would expect from an older model or one in rougher shape, not your bike. |

Agreed on both counts. You would probably get $2,500 for just your engine. The bike in good shape should sell for more than that (but it will take work). I'd say $3000 to $4500 depending on luck and location. Motorcycles (all motorcycles) really depreciate fast. I think ultimately because maintenance is so expensive these days... $100 per hour at a mechanic can eat up 10% to 20% of the value of a bike in a heartbeat. It's a good reason to learn to repair your own vehicles, and to buy them used (I think you have to do both to really "win"). Sorry for the family challenges, things are hard out there right now. Hate to hear people loosing the bike, but it's just stuff, and all the stuff burns in the end. Its even worse for cars. I bought a 2005 Saab 9-3 Aero (that's the V6 turbo) with 45k miles for $9000. Somebody bought that car for close to $40k, put 45k miles on it, and sold it for a $30,000 loss. Gaack! |

I was offered $3000 for my '06 Ulysses (stock) with 32k miles, trade in on a new MV 800 Brutale. Still riding the Buell. |
