Hey how are you guys doing. Just curious has anyone chromed their XB engine? How does it look? and do you have any pics? I've seen where people have polished the frames, wheels and swing arm but I havn't seen a chromed engine. |

Had anyone figured out why the faring stay on an XBR won't accept chrome plating? Cobra66: what part of the engine are you thinking of plating? I've heard that the thermodynamics of chrome plating is a factor to pay attention too. |

The fairing stay is magnesium and can be chrome plated. Not everyone who chrome plates can handle magnesium though. While chrome will provide additional thermal resistance to any part it is on, the engine is not so close to meltdown that a plating would tip the scale. Chrome plating is just so expensive and plating all the exposed parts of a motor would cost a fortune. It is a cosmetic treatment and there aren't many XB owners who think of their Buell primarily as a show bike. |

I always see sportsters chromed out but never any xb's. I could see how it could get expensive and on the xb's there isn't a whole lot of motor exposed anyways like on the sportsters. But I would like to see one anyways. |
