We control quickly the piston movement with the cranck to look for bearing problem if it makes sence. |

So, the motor is in top gear and you rotate the back wheel and feel for too much slop in the big end bearing? |

there is a huge clonk to be heard in the engine, and even after 2 seconds on the startermotor, i would not dare to do that again , untill further inspection. i ruled out he loose sprocket nut by checking the primairy chain, and the little change in primary chain tension would make the crank bearings relative ok ( wil need further inspection ) so suspect big end bearing failure, by lifting the rear wheel , spark plug removed , gear in 5e , pistons half way ( not BDC or TDC ) you can feel if the movement off the wheel is equal to piston movement ( rocking the wheel backward and forward ) i could rotated the crank / rear wheel ( and looking in the primairy cover on the rotor ) about 5 DEG on the crank before rear piston movement could be felt, front was ok ( or to little to feel ) please take in mind this, was just a quick please look at my engine noise request , and there was almost no metal debris in the oil if the customer wants a qoute on the cost to rebuild, we first need the customers ok, to strip the enigne and really acces the damage |

Sounds like a good quick check. I hope I never have to use it. (Message edited by ducbsa on February 03, 2014) |
