Just wondering Being lower to the Ground , also ground clearance under the exhaust by almost 2" does that not effect clearance with regards to POTHOLES, Speedbumps,cornering etc.etc Seems to be abit Dangerous to me?? So I can`t see what if any advantages would be??? Anyone please...??. Except for someone with Small Legs but it always seemed to be in the past people complaning about being too tall NOT too SHORT for the Buells??? (Message edited by hogs on August 31, 2004) |

It only starts closer to the ground, but bottomed out it doesn't get any closer to the ground than a standard S. Therefore, no ground clearance issues. Why build it? Some people want taller bikes, some want shorter. This suits the ones who want it shorter. And it's a little quicker in a drag race! |

" IF it walks like a ,sounds like a, looks like a DUCK it must be a DUCK" If it starts closer to the ground.. then it will BOTTOM out over the right kind of potholes ,speed bumps etc.regardless of any suspension movement, also if its lower to the ground like 2" under the exhaust LOOK out...and as far as cornering one would "think" ones heels would touch the pavement before the standard S.. Come on GUYS post you thoughts here on this? I`m still confused...Enlighten me.!!!! |

Man, I don't know how to make it any clearer. It's not a Duc, its a Buell for starters! The 2" ower seat height comes from 1" in the seat, and 1" from the starting height of the suspension. The bike doesn't have any less ground clearance unless you are trying to jump logs with the suspension topped out! In short, it starts out 1" lower, but it has 1" less suspension travel. So when the suspension is bottomed out, the freakin' bikes are all the same distance off the ground! No one bottoms out their bike with the suspension topped out except in bizarre circumstances like the above. When cornering, the same thing applies, when you corner the suspension is compressed by cornering loads. But this bike doesn't compress any further at full bump than a tandard...therefore it has the same lean angle. |

Hogs, put the bikes side by side. They both have the same clearance. Smaller seat, suspension not as long, makes the SEAT lower to the ground. If I'm wrong, someone correct me. (Message edited by SouthernMarine on September 01, 2004) |

Anonymous made perfect sense to me. The cg bikes start out an inch lower but have one inch less suspension travel. They also have a one inch lower seat. Just like Anonymous said. Pretty simple. |

Hogs... Think half the travel distance, but you have to push twice as hard to cover it. So the same bump will result in both bikes being compressed down to the same final distance off the ground. The Cg will just have travelled half as far to get there. (this is not exactly right as everything is non-linear, but it will put you closer to the truth then you are now). |

Okay Guys I thought this would stir things up abit ..But I`m still not finished with it...Forget about the damn SEAT being lower by an inch..i`m talking about under the front of the exhaust can I have a small dent under the race can i had on up front have NO ideal how that happened ..BUT i know IF it was on a Cg it would now be a biiger DENT yes it WOULD...side by side the CG is atleast an inch or two lower stick a tape under it and check it for your selfs ..IF one was to wheel the bike over a speed bump no one on it understand then one bike MIGHT not hit just maybe scape the bump the other WILL DENT the pipe is this to hard to understand????HAS nothing at all to do with the travel of the folks etc.etc. |

NOW with one inch less travel as you say..Will that not make the bike ride HARDER over rough terrain???ALSO the lower foot peg feelers being INCH or more closer to the ground lets say NO travel at all in either bike in the suspension over same terrain which bike will scape those feelers FIRST?? Lets say SAME RIDERS,(carbon copy) one on the Cg the other on the S...I wd. have to say the S is the better bike all the way around for the same rough rd.etc.etc.You guys get my Drift??? |

Hogs... Depends on how you got your dent. If it was from somehow hitting the muffler on something, but magically not managing to compress the suspension at all, then yes, the dent would be worse with the CG. I could see this happening if you went slowly off a curb and eased the bike forward. I've done it in fact with my Cyclone. So yes, the CG will have slightly less ground clearance in some circumstances. Ultimately, both suspensions bottom out at the same height off the ground, so in many other situations, they both have the same clearance. As for the best bike for the same rider, I would think that would be the bike that the rider sits on and finds the most pleasing based on what they want from the bike. Could be the CG, could be the SX, could be the normal S. I prefer the Sx, but I am a tall feller. |
