Hi, I've finally had the pleasure to ride a Buell XB12S and, WOW, what fun!! I'm looking at a second bike to my commuter V-Strom DL 650 v-twin that will be more sporty and more fun. I can honestly say after riding the XB I was all grins! The last V-twin that did this was a Honda Superhawk that a of a friend of mine owned. I'm looking at is a demo that has the race kit (with ECM), bar end mirrors and 550 miles on it. It really scoots! The dealer wants $10440 for it because it has $1000 of options and the like. I would seriously like to buy this bike (and this is at the expense of my marriage!). What do you think of the price, and what do you think I should hold out for price-wise? This bike shifts smoothly, which is against what the magazine review say. Yeah, the clutch is a little stiff, and yeah, it does stand up in a corner under braking, and yeah, the right side gets hot (a little right testicle heat, which I could do without). Do I want it less? NO!! It was so much fun to ride in spite of the drawbacks. I love my V-Strom for commuting and general riding after my 20 yr absence from riding. I've owned it 3 months and have 5500 miles! I really need a bike for the corners, and I've been looking at SV1000S, Speed Triple, GSXR600 and GSXR750, and the XB's. Each has their own high points as a sportbike for sheer fun in the corners, but what do you think? I know everyone here will be biased towards the Buell (not a bad thing), but do you think, is this a fair price? Thanks! Wambo |

Put Metzler M1 or Pirelli Diablo or Diablo Corsas on it, set the suspension to your weight according to the manual and it won't stand up on the brakes any more. xbolt12 |
