Nobuell, I think the idle issue was caused by the last thing I did (always is). Pretty simple, I have adjustable levers and I recently moved the clutch engagement out a little for two finger shifts. This works great, however when I'm at a full stop I still pull the clutch lever all the way in (full hand). I believe the ECM is not responding fast enough to my throttle position because the clutch engagement (and more importantly, the clutch switch) is a fraction of a second later. I have been experimenting with closer coordination of clutch and throttle to see if this is truly the case. So far it appears to be the cause, but that was only after a 20 minute commute. Bikes are so damn smart these days. It's hard to keep up. |

I had a new Mosfet VR/R that I purchased awhile back but had not got around to installing it. Two weeks ago I installed the new regulator with a direct feed to the battery. The voltage is rock steady and only blips when cycling the headlights on and off. Still will not idle when cold. The last thing that I know to try would be installing the OEM ECM. The O2 sensor is the only not replaced not replaced. I would think the O2 sensor should not come into play when cold. Perhaps I can swap the ECM tonight and hope there is some indication of change. Any ideas out there? |

Nobuell, you mentioned you don't have ECMSpy. Without reading the ECM it is hard to diagnose most problems. I would recommend getting a cable from Opti or American Sport Bike and then connecting using EcmSpy or Tuner Pro. As I mentioned earlier, my biggest issue for cold start idle and stall was the AFV dropping down to 77.1. It would be interesting to know what some of the values are on your bike. Cheapest route is cable from Opti ($39) and Tuner Pro (free for your purposes). Not super easy to configure at first, but worth it once you get the hang of it. |

I have not had a chance to swap the ECM yet, but it looks like I should breakdown and get TunerPro. Will it operate on a Mac computer or an IPad? |

I just found the system requirements for TunerPro. I also downloaded the Buell Tuning guide. Now to figure it out. |

For investigative purposes, which software packages are easiest to use. I would also like to be able to perform a TPS adjustment on pre 2007 XBs. Can that be done in either software package? I am unfamiliar with the both ECMSpy and TunerPro. Pointing me in the right direction will be appreciated. |

Nobuell, I use VirtualBox on a MacBook Air with Windows XP installed as the guest OS. From there I installed EcmSpy and the required drivers for the cable. EcmSpy is definitely easier to get started with, but costs money. Download EcmSpy (free), connect to your ECM and it will report the ECM Type. From there you purchase the correct database for the ECM Type from ecmspy.com. Then plug in again and you will be able to view and modify anything. You can try TunerPro first (still requires a virtual PC). It s little harder to setup, but that's half the fun. I have not found any support for Macs and tuning. That's unfortunate, but the virtual PC is small and this is the only time I have to run that silly software. :-) |

That sounds good. I will go that direction. |
